June 4th - Dolphin Stranding in Hilton Head

Writer: Nicole PrincipeNicole Principe

During the very early hours of the morning on June 4th, HHI sea turtle patrol manager and LMMN lead volunteer, Amber Kuehn, found a deceased adult bottlenose dolphin during her rounds for sea turtle patrol on the beach in Hilton Head.

Amber returned to the beach once it was daylight to gather more data on the animal and conduct a necropsy. This animal was a female and had external signs of bleeding around the eye. Results from this necropsy are to be determined and will be updated once evaluation is complete.
